    FAQs

    Are you accepting new clients?

Yes, I am accepting new clients on a limited basis.

What do we talk about during a phone consultation?

I will review the approaches I use and what I expect from you in therapy. I will ask what you expect from therapy, what type of symptoms you are experiencing and what you’d like to change in your life. You will also have an opportunity to ask me questions. Together, we will determine if we are a good fit by the end of our call.  Zoom consultations are available by request.

    What is telehealth therapy?

Telehealth therapy, also known as online therapy is a convenient way to meet for therapy in the privacy and comfort of wherever you feel most comfortable through a HIPAA compliant, secure platform.

Clients have a much larger pool of providers to choose from with telehealth sessions and care is no longer limited to providers in your geographic region. Telehealth is a convenient option for clients who can use their lunch break for a session, or from the comfort of their own home without the hassle of fighting traffic or parking. At this time, all sessions I provide are telehealth.

I am licensed in the state of Arizona.  Therefore, clients must be physically located in Arizona when telehealth sessions take place in adherence to licensing board rules.

You don’t accept my insurance.  Why should I see an out-of-network provider?

By including out-of-network providers in a search for a therapist, you will have more choices to find a therapist that is the best match for you.

I’ve never had an out-of-network provider before. How do I know how much I will be responsible for?

The best way to be certain of your insurance benefits is to call your insurance company. Here are some suggested questions to ask when calling your insurance company to verify how much you will be reimbursed:

    • Does my plan include out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health?
    • Is there a deductible I need to meet before you will reimburse me?
    • How much of the fee will be reimbursed?
    • If your plan covers a percentage of the “allowed fee”, ask how much the allowed fee is. (The insurance company will cover a percentage of the allowed fee, not based on my fee rate).
    • How do I submit claims for reimbursement?

How do I get the most out of the time spent in therapy?

I am glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation and commitment to therapy will be important to making the changes you want. Taking what is learned in sessions and using it in daily life is essential to create long lasting change.

What type of clients do you work with?

I work with young adults and adults that are experiencing anxiety, depression, low self esteem, and going through life transitions. I also work with clients that have experienced intergenerational trauma, race based trauma and childhood trauma.

Clients that I work with are motivated, committed to attending weekly therapy sessions and dedicated to their personal growth and progress.

What is culturally sensitive, trauma informed care?

This refers to a health care professional’s capacity to effectively provide trauma-informed assessment and intervention that acknowledges, respects, and integrates a person’s cultural values, beliefs, and practices.

Culture extends beyond the identification of a person’s race and ethnicity to include other variables such as faith/religion, sexual orientation, level of acculturation, in addition to closely related factors such as socioeconomic status.
